Oil seams to be on our mind right now.
What oil do you use?
What weight?
Conventional, Simi-Synthetic or Full Synthetic?
When do you change from Conventional to Synthetic if you do?

I use Mobil 1 redcap (well actually now it's goldcap since they changed it) 15w-50 full synthetic, and an OEM filter changed every 5000. Never had a problem with it yet!

I ran Kaw convential oil 20w-50 in mine till for 2 years till about 7k... then I changed it to Amsoil 10w-40 full sysnthetic....

Now the idea is to change it in the spring, change just the filter and top off the oil about half way thru the season, then changed it again in the winter for storage...

Full synthetic-Golden Spectro 20w-50.
I ran that for years in the old EX500!!

I didn't like how fast the Kaw 10w-40 wore out...the 20w-50 seems to work better and hold up better.... then I switched to the Amsoil and went back to the 10w-40.... seems to work great!

Cale... I thought you used the Amsoil V-Twin oil???? Isn't that a 20w-50???

Yes it is and that is what I am running in my bike since Amsoil doesn't make 20w40...

Hey Gas Man...almost all of the V twin stuff on the market, including the Amsoil stuff is for harleys. That is why is it 20w50. Xz636 the Amsoil synthetic is great stuff. I used to change my oil every 3000 miles in the TL and it would come out almost the consistancy of water. I ran Amsoil all last season without an oil change. When I changed it last week for the new season the stuff that came out was basicly the same consistancy as the stuff that went in. Not to mention that the bike shifted better. I actually had to adjust my shifter because I would accidentally click off gears. I love the stuff.
