I've never had to defer from the Manufac settings..at least not yet..My wife is pretty small, and so far, even on my old Yamaha, It's been working out pretty well so far on my new ride as well.

You should start with the manufacturer recommended PSI, you can always adjust it +/- a few PSI for your personal tastes. You may find that you like 3-5 more in the rear when riding two-up. You may also want to increase rear spring preload when you have a passenger with you.
