This site is slow to new posts or responses to threads currently running. Is there not that many that comes here to seek or share info? It takes 15 minutes at some times for threads to get a response. Even some tech Q's threads take a long time. Is there just that many riders and have nothing to contribute towards repairs or upgrades except for a couple of people. I see 1000 members under names,
9995 ask q's and 5 replies. I saw threads go 4 pages and only made up of 5 members like a chat room. Come on guys stop thinking everything said is a flame war and post.
Picking at one another can be fun if done in-personally. I say this because it seems like the only threads that get real attention have heat in them. It doesn’t have to be that way. This is a place to talk about everything bikes. Good, Bad, old or new. I refresh my page over and over and nothing changes. Anything can be a topic but it's only enjoyable if it has more than one reply. Did someone spoil this site already to the point everyone is afraid to comment for the fear of what they might be called. Hey Fear no more. I love Forums; I am a member of Forum 39,000+ members strong. They have their differences but all get worked out. These sites are placed here by folks like you and me who have an interest in BIKES, I will not let someone, ANYONE turn me away from what can be a great site by calling me a Sea creature. No pun itended, it really dont bother me. Look at my location under my name, ha!ha! I know where my talents and skills level are. Trust me I am confident in myself. This place can clean it's self up when peeps can tone down the "Fire backs" to a calmer attitude and go on with the discussion in hand, do we really need to carry stuff out for life. Also maybe if we cool out with the profound name calling that might be driving some of the week or meek not to post. As of right now I don’t share this site with friends or family because I don’t know what vulgar name I might have been called next for pointing out something. My spelling my not be great But trust me, I am far from a moron or an idiot. In most cases I am the last one to need. I am not above learning, and I have a lot of tech I can provide. I have been riding over 25 years. I have owned more bikes then most have seen. I'm not up on all makes and models but I still can contribute more than just Ignorant name calling here and help turn this into a friendly place to rap about our rides, our trips and our woes'. To anyone who I have had a run in with I am sorry. For the most part it has do with you don’t know me. In fact if we face to face those moments would have never reached the point they did I guarantee you of that. I don’t come off that way in person. I have a good disposition and seem to be liked by many as I am sure most of you guys and gals are. For any of you that feel these forums make good personal chat rooms your way off key. That is the first cause for the firing and profanity that goes out to some one who is supposed to be here for the same interest you are "BIKES" and how fun it can be. Chat rooms are chat rooms. Take that activity back to them that is why we still have AOL! I didn’t come her to find out after 36 years of success in life, riding, and my financial stability that I am an idiot by any one of you who may not have liked my point of view. We should all get used to the fact we have a point of view, Good bad or indifferent. So please lets gets some threads running wheather you know anything or not post in them.
ACE come back we had some good times. Really, At least it was entertaining to others; they had something to say then. LOL!
This is not a rant but a rally much needed for this place to see those 1000 members get active and start seeing threads run off the page. It sux to wait that long for a post! Please if you have to call BS just call BS there is even an emoticon for it, but Call BS without making the person feel like jumping from a bridge when doing it. And try to keep the language at a pg-13 at least. I'm am not here to big brother or DAD every one, But It wouldn’t take long to have this entire site down to say 20 guys who are here to chat and don’t even have bikes. Sorry so long.

Here is a drink on me for everyone, and because it's just a picture even the youngins can have one.lol
This had no intentions to harm or offend anyone, If you feel it did please read again to see the point. It is not a finger at all. I used one Name in the whole thread just to let the guy no I dont care about what went on before, it is history. I never held a grudge. In fact I laughed at some of the stuff he put up about me! Classic. This is not a flame.
Thanks again for reading,.

Earlzach, this is an excellent forum, however there are dead spots thru out the day where there just isn't any new posts or threads. During the day people are at work, or out riding, eating dinner...whatever the case my be. There are also times when the forum is hopping with new posts and threads.
I do agree on the whole "chat" thing...sometimes a conversation gets started and people reply and have a normal conversation, where they should either PM each other or IM each other.
But do understand it is summer time...not everyone has time to sit on the forum all day. :2cents:

Dude, I dont sit here all day but I do check in when passing. I have logged on and only find five threads that I havent viewd since the last time I posted. I respect peeps working and doing there thing. But this by no meens has the activity of 1000+ members. In fact there are some threads, good ones that one might think would have a good turn out have like 200 hits (views) and 12 posts. I work Rotating shifts weekly, trust me I know what that can be like for someone to post up.

the nonesense postwhoring is being addressed as we speak.. and everybody needs to do their part as well.

Every forum on the net has dead spots during different times of the day, its just par for the course depending on the number of regular posters you have and the times they are able to be online.

plus in the riding season, people spend more time riding and being outside than on the comp. This forum is pretty active for the number of members that we have, so stick around and you'll see ur threads get action. :dthumb:

Comments like this are what is most concerning.

What I can offer you is recognition of a problem. We've taken steps to put an end to what has gotten out of hand. We've added another moderator, we're now up to four plus me. We're in the process of creating an etiquette section where the rules and behavior expectations will be spelled out; for those that need it. All of your moderator team members are now on the same page as to what we will allow and not allow. It isn't always black and white so we discuss those issues on a case by case basis.

My #1 goal is to have a family friendly forum, that is PG rated. We're adults and we can act like adults. You need to know you can read the forum at work, without fear of an image popping on your screen that may create problems for you. You need to know that when you post you won't be flamed, and you shouldn't fear posting because of it. You need to know your moderator team will take action when this occurs.

Simple rules, and the first 6-8+ months of our existence, members policed themselves and moderating was easy. As we grow, more people means more problems. Consequently, we now have to spend a great deal of time telling people what's allowed and what's not. We also have to determine what's right for our forum and what's not. Our basic rules aren't complicated but what's right and forum X isn't necessarily right here. In that respect, it's the members that help shape that facet of TWF.

I encourage everyone to participate, and know that the level of tolerance toward hostile and aggressive attitudes is very small. Post, have fun and learn.
 :twfrox:

My point was I know where I've been here. I have been pushed around a little, Not like it got to me, I still post.
I saw the first 1000 members thing come about and wandered where everyone is. What kind of company am I really around? So I looked at the member colum and noticed almost 300 + members that have less then 4 or 5 posts. These arent Newbees these fall in the first 1000 members list. Face it They are gone. I saw a couple replies or threads they joined. I dont care to run back through them but I can see where some might have left due to being bullied or the content of the thread where it ended up. This site is really not at 1000 active membership. When I first came here it didnt take long to want to leave because I felt like I wouldnt fit in because the "ACTIVE" threads were going on back and fourth about "your a this If you dress like that" Sure it is one opinion I can stand that, but when the responding opinion is pointed out, like a school of piranah the gang flamers came out and pics got posted as to what I am and the names I was called were so far out of wack I could see that this site was ran by the mebers. I felt like if they had it their way it would be like 15 to 20 guys who are all really afraid of one or two and found that following was the safe thing to do. To me I feel the post refreshing is slow for one reason. The membership has been drivin away. If we could just keep it calmer and fire with less direct, degrading, be-littling comments that only bring out the followers of such ignorance, Then people would try to express a little more in these threads. I use "IMO" and respect other opinions.
I dont mind a good debate. Just keep it on topic. Dont go personal. Once you go personal "IMO" you just lost the real debate so you go right into "my dad can beat up your dad" state of mind. It gets threads closed and could potentially drive a newbee away who dont wish to be put down like that. I am not perfect but I try to keep it clean. Even if I am voicing "my opinion". I am not always right, I also might be way off key for even starting this thread. I would just like to find this place a little freindlier all around. What good would it do if we were to ever end up say at "the gap" and run into each other. Could we ride together. Most likely not. I want to be a part of a Biker community that is web based with this inspiration that one day I might cross these states and look one of yas up for a beer or even A ride at your local twisties. Once again sorry so long. I just have a concern about the futer of either this site or just my future at this site. (pardon all spelling)

Several good points made...good job Earlzach. Little long, and "You had me at Hello...You had me at Hello...." LOL

I am not sure I truely agree with the fact that more moderators will help anything. The more people you throw into the mixing bowl, the more conflict that will arise. Due to difference in opinions, people mis understanding otehrs point of views, and difficulty reading the "tone" things are written in, we will always have disagreements and issues.

For the most part we are all adults (although some, myself included, will behave at a 4th grade level often) Keeping a forum like this "PG" just seems crazy. I mena PG-13 at least, if not R. I understand not posting nude and graphic pictures, but to be honest, I believe if I hear the word on TV, it is perfectly acceptable to use in a public forum. Its not like anyone here has never heard the 4 letter vocabulary. Sure we should try to keep it somewhat friendly and professional, but then again no need to make this "church" like.

I am sure MANY people just sign in to post once and then never come back. In those cases the Mods should delete people who have not posted in 6 months or whatever. Odds are if they only posted once or twice and dont come back for 6 months or more they never will. So why keep them as members just to claim there are 1000+ members.

Ace, Cool!

I am not a Holly roller. But as I said I am not going to tell a friend what a great site this is for him to look me up and see a child has called me every useless name he could think of. I am not a punk, That is why I find my way back. It would have been easier to get banned but I was looking for a forum to talk BS and Bikes. I like it around here. It just needs a coat of paint. Remove the black and brighten it up a little. You know the "Catch more flies with honey thing" I dont have a problem with debate or mild conflict, But over rated content and language is unnecessary. IMO. It can still be heated or funny without it. At work I am as foul mouthed as they come, but in public I try to remain respectfull. Sure, I poke fun when needed or to get my point of view accross, I am not perfect that is for sure. Drama comes in all forms of packages. Nameen.

You are all missing the point of the first 1000 member thing. It in no way is to brag about having 1000 members. I make no claim that all first 1000 members are active, they most certainly are not.

The reason we have that distinction is solely for the supporting member program. It designates the first 1000 members, to the software, that the first 1000 members do not lose anything like unlimited posting in the gallery.

As an aside, it makes those first 1000 people "founding" members. It gives them a different identity from those just signing up for the first time.

As far as deleting old accounts, we may do that eventually. That said, dormant accounts aren't hurting anything. It may make it look like we have more members participating than we actually do when you look at the figure, but so what? All you have to do peruse the forums for five minutes to know you're not seeing 1000 unique accounts posting in threads.

Every forum, without question, has dormant accounts. That's just the way it is.
