OK so I gotta get a helmet...

Im considering the scorpion exo-400 for around $150 that a lotta people really like, but I have also seen the HJC CL-14 which is being discounted and sold for like $99.

Which is the better helmet? or are there better in that price range? I cant go for the $300+ ones because I have to get other gear (gloves, jacket n boots)

AND should I get it instore or online?

accoridng to this article "Blowing The Lid" technicaly its the z1r (89.00), but you also gotta consider fit, comfort, etc... thats best for you. I looked at the Exo-400 and love the features that Scoprion offers in their helmets, but the fit wasnt comfortable for me.

My Z1R

I got it from this place -Z1r I've ordered lots of gear from this place & they've been really good of making any exchanges I needed.

Whichever helmet you choose, if you plan on getting a tinted visor Id recommend getting a visor bag for when you ride till dark and need to swithc visors.

It also depends on fitment.

For example... I picked up a Nolan for me and ordered the proper size for the wife. I have a big melon head...where as she has a small more oblong head... we ordered her the medium. It was the right size but it just didn't fit correctly... wrong shaped helmet for her head... and YES there is a big difference.

I picked up a sponsorship from M2R for the 2006 season. Their helmets have passed the normal testing and seam pretty reasonable.

So are you going to sport one next year? If so see if they'll give you a tinted one for racing so we don't have to see you ugly mug! Just playin Twist! :dthumb:

I didn't read every one elses posts cuz I have tried both helmets and currently own an exo-400. I used the HJC for 2 months until I could buy a new one. The HJC is heavy and noisy and has crappy vents. The Scorpion is a little noisy but is real comfortable and the vents actually work. Get the SCorp, you won't be disappointed!!!

I know you stated the $300+ are a little expensive, but I love the ICON helmets. They are comfy, not really heavy, mine is not noisy at all. I have the Mainframe rubatone black - and I just bought the ICON Mainframe Manic helmet a couple of weeks ago. People have mixed opinions about ICON but I love it. All of my gear is ICON......

That's tiffany teen, she is outdated. You need to find you a new hoe. Although, I do have carmen electra, she is getting really old too.

I bought a mainframe and a fog-free visor few weeks ago. It's the best no-fog visor I've ever encountered!!

Of course, I probably wouldn't have spent the money if I weren't a dealer and didn't get it at cost... :)
