I got a older Ipaq that I use at work and work only.

Then I got a newer color screen Palm (or what ever they call them now) for personal phone book and calender. That's all I use it for. Everything else is why I got a laptop!!

I won't spend money on one because I think they are pretty useless. My laptop is capable of much more than a PDA could ever accomplish and I know me. I used to buy those cute little daytimers. I'd use them til maybe February then they would get shuffled to the bottom of the pile never to be seen or used again. I have many friends who bought PDAs but never use them. With cellular phones, laptops, and other devices I fail to see how a PDA would actually be useful.

I don't have one. Me and Carrie were talking about this the other day. We have been seeing more and more ppl talk about them and have them. For the ones that have one, what are some of the great things that it does for you that makes it so great?

I got mine so I wouldn't have to carry my laptop around. I need access to a couple of spreadsheets and with Pocket Excel I can access them from my PDA without lugging my laptop around.

I can sync email, read and write then dock up and send/receive. I also have pocket streets so I can have maps whenever I need them. All in my back pocket.

The Palm I was talking about earlier is a PalmOne Zire 31....Zire is the new Palm brand...

But anyway, the calander is my #1 reason for having one. You can program all your things, appts, b-day,anniversary, and whatever in it. You can have them repeat daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and so on. They also will alarm if your choose. Not to mention that you don't have to buy a new one every year, like a calander. I would shutdown if I didn't have my personal PDA!

Technology Overload

I use both a at Palm Tungsten C that has WIFI. Use the calender, address book, notepad, keeps digital pics of bike and kids. I run a program that emulates a big A$$ engineering calculator, so it saves me form carrying that too. Use the WIFI during meetings to get and send e-mail and quick speadsheets when someone is laying down a load of crap so I can call the bluff :redevil: .

:bash: That not being enough I have a Blackberry through Nextel which is a cell phone, two-way radio, unlimited wireless e-mail, and a rough PDA for addresses and calander.

I sinc with the two PDAs and a laptop.

Sometimes being in touch is a pain in the butt :screwy: . But these are the tools of the trade to make quicker descisions and communicate with more people. :bthorse:

I thought the same thing you did... nah, they're useless. Then I got one for a x-mas gift and now I'm hooked. It is especially great if you have alot of different things going on and you want to remember them. Ya know, your schedule, the kids, the wife, and so on...
