well there are a wholelot of bikes to start out on but my ideal bike is a ninga 500 if you have not ridden a bike long enouf to know how to handel the clutch .....and if you have a lil off road experience or something go with the sv650s

:iagree: I agree with all the guys above, about the 500's. If you're keen to get into racing DO IT!! :dthumb: It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on! (and the second most fun in leather..........or so my girlfriend tells me!!!)
I've got a lot of mates who say they would prefer to race in a larger class (600's or above), but I'm racing smaller 2-stroke bikes (Moriwaki 80, Cagiva Mito, and building a YZ100 in a TZR250 frame). It's way cheaper, and heaps fun. I also steered away from 250 production classes, as these are full of 16YO's determined to be the next Valentino, who will run you off the road for 21st place. (of course, if that sounds like your kind of racing, go for it!)
Get into something cheap first, until you find out about the "hidden" costs. You can always change up later!

first off, :welcome: and as you will soon find out, :twfrox: . Hit the search key or just browse through the beginner's forum, multiple great threads on this topic.

I would start smaller, even if you want to be a stunter, you'll want to get good riding the bike first, stunt later. 500 has more than enough go-go juice to get the blood flowing for a while.

It helps to have some motorbike experience.
You need to take the MSF class.
They will teach you so much more than how to clutch and shift. If you are set on buying a 600cc bike. Get an older one. that way if you drop it. You wont care as much. I recommend something like a Honda F2 or F3. Don't go for the new Supper Sport bike unless you have good insurance for both you and the bike. If you drop a new bike in the drive way. It could easily coast more to fix than the price of a good used 95 model bike.

What bike?
If your asking about a used bike, check your local bike shops and classifieds.

Just like everyone else said.. Take your MSF, that is #1 first thing. Starting out on a gs500, older cbr600, ninja 500, or a kat is a great choice to learn on. All are easy riding bikes to learn and will treat you well till u get more experience. Dont be in a hurry to get a kick ass liter bike or even a new open class 600cc. They all have a shiat load of power and torque and its just too tempting for a new rider, IMO.

Welcome to TWF !
