JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A woman on a motorcycle died when she was struck from behind on New Kings Road Wednesday night.

Investigators said she was slowing down for a traffic light at Richardson Road, but the driver of the SUV behind her didn't brake. The Dodge Durango ran into her, dragging her several feet down the road.

Names of the motorcyclist and driver were not released.

Troopers said it appeared the driver of the SUV had been drinking. The driver could be charged with DUI manslaughter, but no charges will be filed until toxicology tests are complete.

So sad and unfortunate....I have been concerned with this same scenario occuring while I ride. I have found my self checking my rear view right before I actually stop. If it looks like they aren't going to stop, I'll either switch (quickly) lanes or get as far over (left) in my lane as I can.
