Well yesterday was an AWESOME day at the track. Zero fugging crashes - can you believe that? Out of 40 riders no one bit it. Might be something to this weekday track days where you don't get all the weekend yahoos thinking they are heros on a bike.. They raised like $7,000 for the breast cancer research.. WOS got their own session (except for 1 or 2 strays) at the very end which was cool.. Didn't get too many good pics as there was only riders there and no camera only peepz (which is the bad difference between weekday and weekend). Heres a couple anyways:

1. Hanging out at the WOS encampment
2. The amazing Fazex in between his knee dragging mania
3. Twisty coming onto the front stretch on the new RR
4. Twisty about to make an ugly pass on Rev - I thought I had snapped this like a second later
5. MP coming onto the front stretch

The pictures just suck.. That is the 3rd track day and not one good picture to show for it.. Monday though they should have a good photographer there, etc. Oh and also the best cancer people are mailing us each a DVD with pictures, video, etc. so hopefully there will be better pictures on there..

Very cool, Guys! Glad to see that the event raised a good bit of money for a good cause.

Mudpuppy, you need to get a camera that takes shots like these:

LAR Race Photography

(all images on site are compressed and watermarked...you should see the full size images!!!!! Wow!)

When I'm not riding, I love to take pictures, so Roach bought me a really nice camera with a really big lens. It's awesome! If you guys are ever down our way, I'll come shoot pictures for you.

Glad to hear you all had fun and no incidents!!!! :dthumb:

:iagree: Yeah was awsome not having ****tards that can handle their machines out there. I think everyone did a great job of running @ their own pace.

Yeah no doubt I need a better camera but let's see track time or a better camera? Um I will take track time.. Those are awesome pictures.. I hope the DVD they send us has better pictures.. Monday we will get better pics.. Yeah everyone did a great job of running their own pace.. Most of the time I felt like I had the track all to myself.. That is until Twisty passed me and that was a reminder there was other bikes out there.. lol.. It is so awesome to get passed by Twisty and watch him at work first hand out there, even if it is for a couple of seconds before he takes off into the next corners, etc. Best seat in the house for sure.. Looking very much forward to Monday and another great day..

Yesterday was awesome! It was my first track day, and I got my knee down by my third session. By the end of the day I was dragging everywhere. All this on an FZ6. Heheh. :dthumb: I am pretty sore today, but totally looking forward to monday... back to Grattan for the LED. Wish we had better pics, but thanks for snapping those, MP.

And that is how you get faster! :) You try and stay with that person that passes you for a corner, two corners, three corners...as many as you can. Watch their line, watch their body positioning...and you will find that you will be going faster through those turns your next time around and your lap times will drop. :dthumb:

The best thing about the whole day (besides getting to run the track with my buddies and rising money to save the beautiful breasts of women  ) was the Mudpuppy jerky. Anyone that interested in this awesome jerky should contact Mudpuppy. Honestly it is the best jerky I have ever tasted and I have tasted a lot of jerky.

Thanks for the props Twisty.. The only thing left of the MP Jerky yesterday was a baggie that Rev was licking the inside of by the end of the day.. The fish jerky Rick brought was good too.. He is getting some more up in Alaska..

What was good Laura was that I started in Novice yesterday even though I had been to Grattan before - they kind of insisted I did and I didn't argue too much. I figured 1. I might learn something and 2. If I did fuss about intermediate and then do something stupid I would end up back in Novice and 3. I had started intermediate from day 1 so I might as well do my time in Novice. After the first session I thought I made a terrible decision. We caught up with our instructor, who was leading, to the back of the pack and they were PARKING it in the corner and there was no passing - DOH! Well one of us bitched about going too slow the first session so they adjusted it a little. We again followed the instructor but had to go 3rd gear the whole track and no brakes - that was pretty challenging and besides following the instructors lines, it helped with corner speed alot. Right after that we got bumped to intermediate anyways so it wasn't a total loss except for the first session. The final session of Novice was pretty wide open and the instructor followed us - he confirmed that all 3 of us were running good lines so that was good to know - you might think you are doing ok but it is always good to get confirmation from someone who knows. But yeah for sure when Twisty or anyone passes me I definately try to keep up and follow their lines to improve my lap times. I definately agree it helps.

Next I want to get a lap timer - people say don't get one when you first start but I say how do you know where you started if you don't and if you are improving or not? Need a benchmark and a goal to reach. Unfortunately I needed boots, back protector, maintenance to the bike, tires, track fees, etc. that prohibited me from getting one just yet but hopefully for next year I can or maybe Santa can throw one in my stocking with a 520 chain conversion kit and a rejet kit.

Wow, it definitely sounds like you had a blast, and that's awesome! It's great to see more and more people getting addicted to the track. Having someone work with you is awesome, and will always help improve your riding. That's why I love taking schools!

I vary on the whole lap timer opinion. What I usually do for myself is leave the lap timer on, but not look at the laps until I get back into the pits. More expert riders like to watch each lap and see if they can make the next lap better...for me, while I am on the track I am trying to focus on relaxing, looking through turns, etc. You know, all of the things that novice track riders focus on. Then, when I come into the pits, I look at my lap times. After each session, if I see an improvement, then I feel good, but I'm not really concentrating on each lap at this stage of my riding. As I get better, I definitely will. I do think lap timers are great to have because the help you know if you are getting faster as you are working on different parts of the track. Now what would be REALLY cool would be a telemetry system!

Now a little off subject, MP, what kind of dehydrator do you have? I bought one to make homemade jerky, but I'm not sure I like the one I purchased. :(

It is an American Harvest Snackmaster Pro. The key to the whole MP jerky is the smoke and seasoning - the dehydrator is just the end step that is necessary. I season the meat with very special seasoning, let it cure over night and then smoke it on the smoker with select smoking woods.

Thanks for the props Faze! This week after our next trackday I will fire up the smoker again... My goal is to have some done in time for the meeting..
