just wondering if anyone here would ever consider owning a harley? if i were to come into $$ i would probably entertain the idea of purchasing one. but i would still keep the zx636 as well. i kinda like the new harley street rod. but when faced with the choice between the two, i'd always go sportbike first, no brainer! what do you all think? :cheers:

Nope! Actually, I've never ridden one and would like to try one just to see what all the hub-bub is about. I did ride an Intruder and found it to be a much more relaxed ride. Bike definately didn't want to be pushed but was comfortable. Mostly, I think I wouldn't want to wear the badge that most Harley riders have. And I don't like working on bikes as much as I like riding them.
I don't know if I would ever stoop down that low :lol: I think I'd rather go with a custom chopper before I went to a harley. I do like the VRod as well if I had to choose a harley. I am too young to even think about a harley. It's all about fun and being on a sportbike right now!!! I couldn't believe how many young people were rideing harleys now these days...even at the carlisle bike show there were tons of youngsters my age rideing harleys.

Not even if u paid me a trillion dollars....ok we'll may be a trillion, but then I'd turn around and sell it before I even started it up; and then go out and buy me a real bike.. but thats just me

:iagree: The real hard core hog riders look down on the yuppies who ride it just for status and cuz they think its cool as opposed to riding one for the real reason; because its a harley and it means something to them.

20 yrs ago...never. But as you grow older you might think twice. I've owned one for two years now and enjoy the hell out of it.
It will never replace my sportbike, but my wife sure enjoys the comfort (ultra-classic), the saddle-bags ( cause she used to be my saddle-bag) and it's real nice riding with music too.
Since the employees took the company over from AMF the quality has turned around 1000%. I haven't had any problems with mine yet...to include NO oil leaks. :lol:

Before I stopped riding on the street, there was a Harley FXDL (Dyna Low Rider) and a Ducati 900ss in the garage. Both excellent bikes, just designed for different things.
I really liked the Harley. I grew up with them - Dad rode Harleys, Grandfather rode harleys, etc, so I always wanted one. And the new motors (TC88) are pretty reliable, there's not really any major probs with them at all.
However .... if I were to do it now, I'd put something custom together instead of buying one from the Motor Company. Buy a frame, S&S motor, etc ... nothing flashy or over the top, just a nice, unique bike, and it would cost less (or at the most, the same as) a base-model Harley.
Oh ... and the V-Rod isn't a Harley We maintain a track-day bike for the GM of a rather large Harley dealer - he says he sells 2, maybe 3 V-Rods a month (they sell about 200 bikes a month out of their store). It's basically the Harley designed for the Japanese bike fan, or the younger buyer. He also says they *never* have problems with V-Rods (Porsche designs a good motor I guess )

My neighbor across the road had the HD dealership in the 60's and he would get bikes shipped to him he couldn't sell...they would be missing parts like seats or tanks or wheels...He dropped HD and took on Honda in 71 and now his boys run the dealership and sell Honda, Yamaha, Kawi, and Polaris...2FURYUS said:

Yeah, V-rods are not selling well at all. Actually saw one out here at a dealer for $3k under sticker, and that's unheard of for Harleys...many dealers are getting $1k over sticker for all other models.SpeedWerks.com said:Oh ... and the V-Rod isn't a Harley
