Be careful on E Bay. Allot of scams on bikes. :bash: :2cents:
Really? I think I heard of one guy in England trying to "sell" a brand new R6 for like $2,000 or something. But he wouldn't do escrow, etc. etc. - Total scam. So what other scams are going on and how do you avoid them? I want to buy a used R1 and I would like a heads up on the scams happening.. I don't want to get burnt..

1st. If it sound to good to be true it usually is!
2ed. contact the seller to discuses in E-mail.
3ed. look for other auction and compare. Ex. Sale R1 for $5000 but normally sales cheap jewelry, BEWARE
4th. Contact the seller from other auctions such as a jewelry auction and ask about the bike.
5th. and probably should have been 2ed. If the only forum of payment is a wire transfer that watch out.
:luck:  :smash:

Thanks for the info. I don't think I would get caught up in any of those.. I am a little wiser than that - I come from a family of used car salesman..

 Then hopefully you won't get caught up in the one where the guy wants to pay you more than the auction closing and have you send him the overage. That's another scam. They will use a forged money order and you think it's good because it's a money order, not a personal check. You put it in your bank account and they pick up (or you send them) the bike and the overage they had paid you. The check bounces and now you just lost your bike and a few hundred dollars. Hasn't happened to me, but it's one that's going around. So be leary of money orders and cashiers checks, because those can be fake/stolen as well.

why don't you put the 2500 down at a dealership and get a decsent used bike with a low monthly payment, that way if you get burnt you'll have a bike but you'll just be paying too much  i would at least check a dealership and try to talk 'em down. either way, good luck.

oh yeah, my buddy will get rid of his 02 r6 for 3g's. it went down on the left side and there is some scrapes and little cracks. it won't run right now because he left the bike without gas in it for three months. he serviced it regularly but barely ever cleaned it. it's got a full yosh system though...something like 7000 miles. includes jacket and helmet. i'm gonna try to get it runnin this weekend...oh yeah it's in vegas too. he hasn't put it in any classifieds but if he did that ish would sell quick. let me know. later

Okay, I've seen you type this in several threads. At first, I thought it was a typo or something, but now I think you are meaning to type it. WTF is "ish"??
