I hear all 911 cell phone calls go to one CHP office, which is understaffed or has bunch of lazy State workers

Its because the prioritize.
If some one is reporting a DWI on one line and somebody is getting robbed on the other line then the under staffed dispatchers have to prioritize. :skep:

I agree that's a long time.
I have a friend that dispatches for my county and hear stories all the time.
Most reports like this are considered as road rage on the callers part.
Nothing is really done except to post a look out for the vehicle unless it has numerous reports. :skep:

I'm betting the wait wouldn't have been that long if somebody was hurt. :2cents:

I had a similar thing happen once... I was in a car accident and couldn't get thru... I wasn't happy! Thank God no one was seriously hurt!

Of coarse if it's not a emergency you can always call 311

It's because the 911 system is clogged with people calling about barking dogs and those needing directions. :disapp:

Yep. I manage an apartment complex and we are in the jurisdiction of the sheriff so I have the sheriff's business lines and direct emergency lines programmed into my cell phone. I've had to use both on occassion. Also, if you call 911 from a cell phone, it goes to the state police, not to the 911 dispatcher, which is why I have the direct numbers to the sheriff's office in my phone.

On a side note, I forgot a buddy of mine worked for the sheriff's office and my cell phone rang one day. I looked at caller id and it said "Sheriff". I was like WTF?? It was my buddy calling to ask if I wanted to play poker that night.

These threads get :jacked: far too quick. From 911 not answering to picking up the slut in the drunks car. :spam:
But I have heard if you call information of the operator and ask to be connected to emergency or 911 it take "priority" or something.

California all 911 cell phone calls go to CHP.
System is messed up.....

Here's why. As many people have stated, all 911 cellular calls are routed to the CHP. The big problem is, every time there is even a minor accident on a freeway such as the 101 or 405, literally hundreds of drivers will call 911 for the same incident.

If you have a major crash, they can expect thousands of 911 calls on the same incident.

They will never have a hundred or a thousand dispatchers ready to take your call for any given region.

That's why the long waits for 911 on a cellular phone.

The hot tip is to get a regular number for your local region and put it on speed dial.
